Araucanas

Depends on where you're from. I for one, do, but I'm in Australia

We have Araucana chickens but do not have any in the breeding process right now. We have ours separated for exhibition this fall. We have a show Aug/Sept, Sept, Nov and December. Not sure if there is one in October or not.
We had our best show cockerel in with 2 other cockerels and they were pulling each others tuffs out. Had to get them separated so their tuffs would grow back in before the shows start. Sold one of them a couple of weeks ago to another 4-H student. We only have 1 cockerel with double tuffs and he is sure looking mighty fine for the show season. This will be his first show and can't wait. Our daughter is showing him in the county fair this month and then on to Open/Junior Poultry Shows thru the end of the year.

One of our pullets has a double tuff on one side of her head. Our daughter is using her for showmanship since she is so tame. Very sociable with humans. She probably won't win since she does not have even tuffs.

We will be incubating eggs from the pullets sometime this fall. Not sure if we will have any to sell or not.

Hope you find someone who lives close to you where you can get some chicks. It takes a lot of eggs to get 1 or 2 good Araucana chicks with tuffs. With the lethel gene it is hard to get a good hatch rate. We hatched over 100 eggs in the beginning of this year and only got 2 cockerels with really good tuffs.

Good luck!

Gary Ramey sells true Araucana chicks and ships. Look up geareduplynn through Ebay, Birdbid, or other auction places. He's got a BYC account too but it is banned, not sure if you can get his contact info.
