I ordered an assortment of 24 rare breed straight run chicks. They are now 20 weeks old. I'm afraid 1/2 of them are roosters.

I have someone coming to pickup the roosters tomorrow, but I want to be sure I'm not giving away hens. Do you mind helping me out and confirming my suspicions? Thanks!

2 Blue or Splatter Andalusians?
2 Silver Laced Wyandottes
1 Easter Egger
2 Turkens

Yep, all cockerels.

I must say, for a straight run, an actual 50/50 split is kind of remarkable!

Yea, thanks for the input. I'm so disappointed. I've invested a lot of time and money into these guys. I was hoping that I was wrong. I think from now on, I'll fork out the extra cash to get all females. Lesson learned! Thanks again for the help!

@donrae I was shocked! From most people I talked to with chicken experience, they said it was quite a crazy thing to get so many Roos. It is the Year of the Rooster, maybe that's just extra luck for me? Haha.

I learned my lesson from 8 drakes and 4 hens.

I did the same. I ordered 10 silkies and got 6 roosters. I kept 1. My hubby told me next time pay the extra lol. But unfortunately we can't always do that
