I thought I knew the difference between paint & splash but on these babies I'm just not sure. They almost look like paints to me but probably just wishful thinking on my part. Thanks for any feedback.

Looks to be splash to me but here are two ways to check. The easiest way is to check their feet for what is called pigment holes. These will be pinkish spots on their feet along with the typical black skin. Also do the "spots" cover the entire feather and go to the skin? The paints will but the splashes will not. Either way s/he is a beautiful color!!

Thank you Basel. I think they're kind of nice but they're from my line so I'm just a teensy prejudiced. It's nice to hear a compliment from someone else.

lwarfield, thank you so much for the info on identifying paints. I figured that seeing paint in these chicks was just wishful thinking on my part. Especially since they're my chicks & I don't have any paints. But I had hopes that they might be some kind of throw back from earlier generations. Oh well. I'll check them out in the morning but I'm sure you're right about them being splash.

However, I am getting some paint eggs so next time I see spots there's a chance they'll be the real thing!

BTW, that's a gorgeous partridge roo in your avatar. It's not often that you see one that nice & with the proper colors in all the right places.

Thank you :). I am very lucky to have him, he is spoiled rotten. Can't wait to see more chick pictures! I will have my paint pen up and running in a month or two so check back with me I should have some available!

I'd love to see some pictures of your paints & also some more of your partridge. Will you have any hatching eggs available?
