I am making a batch of applesauce and have a big plate of apple peelings. I am wondering if I cna give them to teh girls. I peeled them iwht a knife so some are bigger/longer/thicker than others.

I don't know if they could choke on them or not? That might be a stupid question???

My girls wouldn't eat the apple peels even when I cut them up in pieces, BUT if I microwaved them to soften them they loved them!

They better be, my birds are cleaning up under the wild apple trees. The other night 4 of them were chasing a rolling apple down the hill.

Mine especially love it when the apples get a little soft and fermented! I thought I'd just toss the brown, funky-smelling apples into the compost. I set the bucket on the porch step and before I could turn back around from closing the gate, my hens had swarmed the bucket and were diving into it! OK, so I spread the apples on the garden and let them enjoy!
