are apples and/or pumpkins ok?

Pumpkins are great for them. Just split them in half and let them go at it. The seeds are natural wormers too! They will eat the entire insides anyway. Mine eat the crab apples that drop from the trees.

That reminds me of the time DBF saw our BSL jumping at something out of the corner of his eye. He looked and she was going for the rotten crab apples in our tree. It's a young tree and its fruit is only a bit bigger than peas. I went over and pulled the gross, soft fruit off the tree and my girls went NUTS gobbling down the rotten, squishy fruit.

My ducks and guineas love the crab apples, too. We just shake the tree once a day and they all run to it. They are about all gone now, just a few dried up ones that held on.

Grandfathers and chickens THRIVE on apples and pumpkins! I'm living PROOF:lol:. Chickens like them raw and Grampas like them best in a PIE;).
