Hey guys, just wondering what have been your experience housing Araucanas? Been told that they are active birds and will need to be free-ranged and another that said they seem to do well in suburbia. I can't free range my chooks. Thanks.

From my experience they do not need to be free-ranged. I have a number I keep in a coop/run so I can keep them pure and they are content with their housing
Mine are the first outside when I open the doors of the run. But they don't seem especially distraught when they need to be kept inside so long as they have food and water to keep them busy
Thanks heaps @AusHen & @JacinLarkwell! Based on your comments, I'll makes plans to get a dozen Blue Araucana eggs in the future. 😊😊😊

I have been raising pure bred Araucana’s for nearly a decade now. They are great birds to own, very docile, they are just a laid back bird. I have some in breeding pens, and in larger flocks in the coop with attached runs. I also raise BCM, LF Cochins, BLRW and they are no different than the other breeds I own. They are actually my favorite as they are laying machines!!!
