Our cats do this all the time. I am definitely thankful though. We don’t really need mice or rats. The last time we got a present one yakked up a bird on the floor in the living room, and that was the last time that cat was allowed in the house…

I know she kills mice and rats, but she usually leaves them outside. About a week ago I was in the yard with her when she caught one and I praised her. I think she was looking for more praise, lol.

@notabitail I took a look at the mealworms and I saw some that are just skins . . .? I'm not sure if they got dehydrated or died and were eaten, or if that's normal when they pupate?

As mealworms just keep breeding wild on the floors of my avairies, as long as I keep some moisture and some husk - I don't take much notice - the finches and quail eat what they want and leave the spare to keep on breeding.

Those are skins. They shed them as they get bigger. It's normal.

They're similar to caterpillars in that sense. You'll be seeing lots of those skins.

Dead pupae and adults are common too, prepare for the gross-out.

Don't get it too humid otherwise it'll rot the bedding. You don't need to really take the bedding out much, once a year and sift the worms should be fine, if it gets low, top it off with some extra. I use oatmeal.

Oh my. PLEASE get that thing out of your bedroom. I guarantee you it's going to make your room smell amazing. I used to have mine in my room and The Siblings wanted to run me over.
