Our cats do this all the time. I am definitely thankful though. We don’t really need mice or rats. The last time we got a present one yakked up a bird on the floor in the living room, and that was the last time that cat was allowed in the house…

I know she kills mice and rats, but she usually leaves them outside. About a week ago I was in the yard with her when she caught one and I praised her. I think she was looking for more praise, lol.

@notabitail I took a look at the mealworms and I saw some that are just skins . . .? I'm not sure if they got dehydrated or died and were eaten, or if that's normal when they pupate?

As mealworms just keep breeding wild on the floors of my avairies, as long as I keep some moisture and some husk - I don't take much notice - the finches and quail eat what they want and leave the spare to keep on breeding.

Those are skins. They shed them as they get bigger. It's normal.

They're similar to caterpillars in that sense. You'll be seeing lots of those skins.

Dead pupae and adults are common too, prepare for the gross-out.
