Are avocados OK for chickens?

I've heard rumors that avocados are bad for chickens. Is this true?

The flesh around the core and skin contains toxins that can kill.Although Ive gave my chickens a whole avocado nothing happened.So as a general rule don't give your chicken the core or skin and they will be fine.

Make certain they are not fermenting if simply old. Chickens seem to be major light weights when it comes to ethanol.
