Are bantam breeds better suited for indoor setups?

I am planning on keeping a bantam Cochin rooster as an indoor pet inside my bedroom, but before I do I need to know if bantam breeds are better suited for indoor cages or should I stick with Seramas instead? A local feed store has straight run bantam cochin chicks available and I want to buy one as a personal pet. I live with my parents and I also heard that bantam roosters are less noisy than regular roosters and that the No-Crow-Collar will prevent crowing.

Why do you want to put it in a cage? Cages are for protection from predators. Do you have predators in your room? Can you free range it in there instead of confining it to a small space?

Hi. Do you just want the chicken to make YOU happy? Or do you want the chicken to be happy and healthy too?

If you want a pet to cuddle and snuggle, your best bet is to get an animal that enjoys being cuddled and snuggled. Like a cat or a dog. Mostly chickens do not. A chicken is happiest when it is with other chickens. That's how Nature made them. It feels safe when it is with other chickens. If you really cared about your chicken you would want what was best for it. You would want it to be happy. You would want it to feel safe. It would not feel safe in your room. It would not be happy without other chickens. I hope you make good choices.

I guess I would ask, what's wrong with a dog, or cat, or ferret, or rabbit. They all make great pets and are much more suited to living inside. As someone who has had all these pets, and just now got chickens, I can say that chickens make the worst indoor pets of them all. Sooooooooo muchhhhhhhh poooooop!
