Yes, they have a shriller crow. They sound so cute, though!

Of all the roos I've had, the Worst Crow Award has to go to a little Silver Sebright. He sounded like some kind of malfunctioning wind-up toy, it was awfully screechy and as annoying as nails on a chalkboard -- and frequent! He further endeared himself to us by scampering up behind us as we crossed the yard and jabbing us in the shins with his tiny but sharply pointed spurs. It was such a wonderful relief to get rid of him -- I heard of a man in the neighborhood who would "take roosters" and I rushed this little bit of nastiness over to his house right away.

On the other hand, the Best Crow Award must go to a huge & handsome White Jersey Giant. He was supposed to have been a hen named Ivory (to go with a Black Giant named Ebony, see?) but the hatchery goofed up. We re-named him Buck, and I gave him to a pal who had no rooster at the time. Buck had the most melodious deep baritone crow, he should have gotten himself an agent and a recording contract from MoTown. Instead, the poor guy died defending his wives from the Raccoon Mafia.

Are you asking about relative rooster volumes for your neighbors' sake, or yours? Personally, I like to hear my roosters crow, well, most of them anyway. They don't wake me up or keep me up, perhaps because Mister snores so loud & often I don't hear anything else. Maybe I should shut him up in the coop at night and let the roos sleep closer to the bedroom window...
