My folks have bobs and californians and the californians are impossible to get near, but the bobs that we raised with them are much better (same age same aviary). It seems they all have personalities though. Out of the 5 bobs, there is only one that will puff up and eat while you're present. The others just watch with caution while the Californians jump around in mild panic. None of these birds were handled really. Saying that though I have one hand reared bob who is inseparable from us, comes when called, trails your heels, jumps up on your lap or head and always wants a cuddle... Admittedly still an inherently nervous bird and needs cover even by a closed window (always fearing aerial attack).
Best of luck!
