Are Bourbon reds better breeders the. White turkeys

Are they more successful at mating and better at to hurting there mate/ scratching them.

If by White Turkey you mean the double breasted commercial whites then yes Bourbons would be a better choice for natural mating. Commercial whites can not mate naturally. They are to heavy and have to be artificially inseminated. Same with the double breasted bronze turkeys.

I can't really tell the difference in white turkeys I know there's about 3 different breeds of white turkeys. Can a bourban red mate a white hen without issue. I plan on getting a Red tom to be the king for my barn.

If the tom is bourbon red then you should be fine.

Cool. Thanks for the replies. Most toms get to 25lbs and hens 13lbs bout same as white turkeys. Are reds just smarter.
