The BBB hen was put down at 18 months. Last I got of those. Other people have had better luck with food restrictions and exercise. She was doing good until snowy winter
My heritage hens have died from predators. Currently I have a couple 8 or 9 years old. Still laying and go broody
The toms from predators or put down from fighting injuries. The extra jakes are harvested for the freezer.
