Are buff orpingtons and golden comets the same thing?

We have two baby golden comets and when I googled the breed they look just like buff orpingtons to me, are they the same? Thanks!

No, they aren't the same. Golden Comets are hybrids of two breeds and are known as "sex links". That is, the male chicks look different from the female chicks for easy sexing. They are a hybrid between White Plymouth Rock hens and New Hampshire Red or Rhode Island Red cocks.

Ok, they definitely look different. Thanks so much for the pictures! We have 2 baby golden comets and looks like we're going to get 4 buff orpingtons so glad to know I'll be able to tell them apart.

I had Golden Comets that must have been a different combo of breeds because they weren't that dark. They did pretty much look like Buff Orpingtons.
