Are cherry pits ok for chickens to eat?

Hi,

I really need to know if cherries or their pits are ok for chickens. I make the mistake of giving them cherries without pitting them. I didn't think the chickens would eat the pits! My mom said that is would just come out of their poop, but I don't know if that is true or not. Please help! I don't want my babies to die!

I've always heard cherry pits contain cyanide. Eating a couple isn't going to hurt anything, but I wouldn't feed them as a treat or anything. Just make sure to take the pits out next time
