Hi iam new here hopefully some one can lead me in te right direction. Igrew up with chickens so when I moved to lake villa illinois I wanted to get a few .there village Web site doesn't give information on this but I looked up suburbs that allows them it says there not allowed .although a neighbor just a block away has about 30 chicken plus turkeys. And ducks so how do I go about seeing why it' ok for 1 person but no one else .

First off, I don't think you want to ask officials why a neighbor has poultry. I believe your only inquiring if they are allowed in your zone, township, county ordinances.

Where did you find they are not allowed in suburbs? I did a quick search and found no livestock ordinance in your county- only ordinances on dogs specific. On town/city website found nothing on livestock, poultry or animals. Land use section had nothing excepting dog kennels/boarding.

As Farmer Connie said you'll need to call your town clerks office and ask about any poultry/livestock ordinance. If they tell you you can't have them ask them to point you to the specific ordinance that states that. Often when talking to officials they will give you their opinion or impression when there is actually no such ordinance. If there is no ordinance then there is no restriction.
