Are chickens domestic pets

I am currently trying to amend my Homeowner Association rules to have chickens included in the category of "household pets". Right now chickens are listed in the prohibited group, but the rules were written 30 years ago when chickens were raised primarily as a product and not as something you interacted with. I started a blog, hcchickens.tumblr.com and emailed it to all 75 lot owners in my community. So far I've gotten more positive responses than negative, but it will be up to the Board of Directors to make the final decision. Next Board meeting is 10/15

I'm in the UK, and my deeds state 'no livestock'.... I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, and will try the old 'pets, not anything else' route if challenged. I've 'liked' your FB page too!

Interestingly in Indonesia (and Phillipines) Ayam Serama (tiny chickens) are kept as household pets the same way people here in the US keep parrots and canaries. I would argue that Bantams and Seramas especially are 'Small birds usually (or traditionally) kept indoors.'
