Mine are pets.
They have names. They live in a hen house we bought special for them. They have a protected run where predators can not get to them. I take them to the vet when they are ill and keep them in a dog crate in the living room when they require special attention.
And they come when we call their names. They like to sit in our laps, well, one of them does. One tolerates being held and the third marches to the beat of her own drummer.
So I feel they are just like the neighbors cats and dogs.
