Are Cochin Roosters Know for Mean Behaviors?

My bantam cochins seem to always 'challenge' me when they are just starting to come into their hormones, but more so the ones that have been handled often than the ones that were hen-hatched or just fed on a daily basis. But they are roosters, so there's always that chance, you just need to show them who's boss.

I have a 2 year old Cochin, got him from a friend that said he has never had any issues with him. I have had him a month and he was real nice, never had an issues with him. Today I was putting the food down and he attacked me, I pushed him away so I could pass by, he attacked me again, and when I jumped back he attacked again. I wasn't by this time in his way to get to the food he was just in a fighting mood. Wondering if he is going to keep this up or not, hate to let him go, but I wont stand a rooster attacking me.

Rainbow Birds, I have a similar situation, I have a black bantam looks like your red and he is evil, my kids won't even go in the coop to collect eggs anymore and one of my hens is starting to get pecky also...not sure what to do...he is just now a year I think, any suggestions for taming him?

I'm also curious about their behavior I have one who I babied cause he got picked on as a 2 week old separated him and treated him like a child !! Now he pecks me when I go in at night to close up the coop !! He runs at me when I approach the run ! And today when trying to slowly introduce some you ger ones he came charging out of the run and just went on my 3 1/2 week old wyandotte :( I love him but want keep him if he continues this behavior !

This is my first year with Cochin bantams and 2 LF raised from 4 wks to 4 mo. I have found them to be disagreeable in some ways. The LF, both pullets, were nasty to the other birds and would chase them. They taught the bantam Cochins to do it also since they were housed with them for a while. One of the LF was very bad about pecking my hands. The bantams were moved, given a time-out and they are better. But they still tend to be bossy to other chickens if they can. They do have a sweet personality otherwise, and no particular problems with the bantam roosters as to meanness.

I have 4 roo's with 23 hens - My roo's have been hand raised & hand fed, but recently 2 have attacked several family members including me. Both are bantams and beautiful! I consider these guys pets, not food! What can I do????

Unfortunately with all 3 of my cochin roos 2 were so mean we had to rehome and i had raised them from 3 day old chicks. The one i have left isnt mean but runs from everyone and can hardly be caught for flock inspection! We tried everything and nothing seemed to break their bad behavior :( i wish you better luck !

I have had two cochin roosters. The first one was a partridge cochin bantam size. He was very mean, always sneaking up on me to attack but backing off if I turned and faced him. He only came after me when my back was turned. He would also antagonize the alpha rooster (big barred rock) by jumping on his back while he's mating a hen and then running away before he can catch up. He made the cone a few weeks ago. I have a large fowl silver laced cochin roo who is very sweet. He is big but gets bullied by some of the smaller roosters. I have only heard him crow once.
Are Cochins known For very mean rooster behaviors... Just wondering since Im getting rid of my Barred rock for mean behaviors, and Im not keeping any of my Red sex link chicks that turn out to be roos... and im getting silver laced cochins 12+ in the mail so just wondering if I should keep a roo, Is there average behavior is nice.
