Are Cochins really that bad at laying?

I am picking the breeds to start my flock and of course I love the Cochins. However I have seen mixed infromation on them and laying. Is it true they are not good layers?

Cochins are very broody oftentimes, however, most of my Cochins have also been great layers.
I have one Cochin hen who is laying in the middle of winter 3-5 eggs per week while only a couple other hens lay. We have one Cochin hen who still lays eggs in the spring/summer and she is 8 years old. I also had one Cochin hen who I don't believe ever laid an egg in her life.
It really does depend on the strain and I would recommend getting large fowl if you are concerned about laying. They lay bigger eggs and lay more often. I have never had LF myself but this is what I have heard.
