Hi!

I wish to have chickens for egg laying and am fascinated by the colors of eggs they can lay...Perhaps this question is a bit silly but I just have to ask :)

Do blue (green, dark brown etc) shelled eggs stay that way when cooked or are they only so colorful when raw? (if for example you are making hard boiled eggs and want to serve them unopened)

Thanks

Yes, the color stays on the outside of the eggs, when boiled,
might look a bit different in shade , but not much.
The inside though, looks like a normal egg, so one wouldnt
know what color egg it from.

There are no stupid ???'s here.

They are beautiful. I love the colors. Go to the Olive Egg Thread, here is the link. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/131131/the-olive-egger-thread You will love the colors.

Thanks :)

I will look up the link...Up until a few weeks ago I didn't even know chicken can lay so colorfull eggs (I new about normal brown and that there are white eggs in some countrys). I am truly fascinated and can't wait to get some chickens of my own :)
