Are cooked bones safe?

On a slightly related note, I wonder if anybody grinds bones of small animals, perhaps after making soup, to supplement egg shells or oyster shells. Or is it unnecessary? More than chicken bones I am thinking rabbit bones.

I do have a meat grinder (manual) that is designated just for the chickens. In it during summer, I do grind some watermelon rinds and other larger vegetable pieces. The chickens munch these things up. If not ground,, the watermelon skins would not get consumed as much.
I never considered grinding bones with my small manual grinder,,,,,, did not want to chance breaking the knives inside.
