Are Delewares the same as Columbian Rocks?

Clayhill - I believe I recall that Bill Krueger up in the midwest, or perhaps one of the other Rock breeders up that way had large Columbian Rocks. Not sure what the caliber of them was. I think Krueger might have dispersed a lot of his Rocks, though. Another option (for those who are young and with extra time

) might be to craft some from a good White Rock line and Light Brahma line. I read a very interesting article once about one of the Columbian Wyandotte lines that was pretty quickly forged from a White Wyandotte/Lt Brahma starting point. You'd think that the feather legs would be a PITA for quite a while, but apparently not.

The other place to check with would be the Rock Club - maybe post something on the forum for a current find. I know in past years Joel Gilman from Virginia earned some points showing large Columbians. He had some of the Rocks from Tommy Stanley after Tommy passed away. Good luck.

If you want eggs it should not be a problem. The male chicks will look like the delaware and the pullets will look like a columbian rock.
