My barred rocks are 25 weeks old today and have been laying for just over six weeks. For the past almost two weeks, they have all been laying an egg a day. Anyway, my smallest girl has been laying a double yolker daily and although I know there isn't anything I can really do to stop that, I'm wondering if its harmful to her? They have very healthy shells, membranes, and gorgeous eggs but it seems like the poor girl is working overtime! Any input is appreciated!!

Once she gets her production line worked out they will quit and I have never noticed any real problem with double yolkers. I'm getting them right now from my new girls. double yolkers are fairly common with new layers but I've never seen them last or cause any problems with the girls laying them.

Awesome, that's good to know! They're super fun to see but not at the cost of her health so thanks for the info!!! I've gotten five double yolkers from the other girls in the short time they have been laying, maybe she's trying to one up them :)
