Are Dry Chicks Day-Old

Yeah, sooner you offer them food the better but they may show no interest in eating for the first day or so. Their yolk sac is good enough to sustain them for up to 3 days after hatch. It's also the perfect time to train them to drink from a watter bottle. No drowning or wet litter!

So its been a few days now, and all three are doing great. They are eating and drinking and have already gotten noticably bigger. I think this time I did it.

Silkie,
Can you elaborate on this. How do you do this and what do you use?

So I have this 32 ounce water bottle you use for rabbits, rats, ferrets and the like. I just hang it up and when they are day olds, tap on the ball and they come over to see what's up. I do this a whole bunch of times for the first few days and they all learn how to drink from the bottle by tapping and drinking. I do this because there is no chances of spilling the water and it stays nice and clean. They are on the bottle till they are moved outside on the dirt where it doesn't matter that they spill the water.
