I have 2 dz eggs that I had for sale on E-Bay that did not sell. They are 5 days old. The eggs have been sitting on the kitchen counter and have been turned 4 times a day. The eggs have not been washed. I am wondering if the eggs are still safe to eat if I wash them. I normally just put them out in the woods and let the Coons eat them. Just hate to waste good eggs.

Have they been in the a/c? If so, I would eat them.

I would find that safer then feeding raccoons that will then come looking for more eggs! If I didn't eat them, I would scramble them up and feed them to the chickens.

I would eat them. My eggs normally end up on the counter for a few days before I eat them or put them in the fridge, and I never wash them.

I feed the coons where I have a deer feeder set up in the wood way far from my chicken pen.

Many never refrigerate eggs and they sit on the counter for more than five days.

I never refrigerate my eggs and as long as they are clean I don't wash them till I use them. We do go through eggs pretty fast though, never had one more than a couple of weeks. I hear that clean, unwashed eggs can last a month or more at room temps.

I have held a dozen fresh, unwashed eggs at room temp (never above 70 degrees) for 2 weeks without an issue. I have heard that 2 weeks is about the limit though... our eggs never last that long though
