Are geese happy without a gander?

I have 4 geese, 3 Embdens and a Gray/Pilgrim cross. I re-homed my gander because he rejected 2 of the hens and was even attacking one of them. I don't know if I should try another gander or leave well enough alone. Are geese just as happy without a gander?

I have heard that geese mate for life, will my girls miss that? They do "mate" with each other so.......
