Are goats worth the trouble of having them for the work they do?

I just did a lot of research on Kiko goats you may want to look into it also.

They need very little care and if you have a large amount of land the only thing you may need to give them is minerals with copper.

According to the web sites I have been looking at Kiko's are worm resistant goats needing almost no deworming at all again do your research......
Hoof trimming almost not needed at all, provided you have some rocks around on your land.. but also is not difficult to do.
Almost all goats will test your fencing boundaries this can be jumping or just going through the fence you will need a very strong fence to keep these guys in.

I was reading about this lady with 500 acres of land she had all kiko goats she puts no money into them at all and they are very healthy.

They eat off the land and she does not feed them.

I would research and find out what is best for you.

$3 a bale for hay!!! We are paying $16.95 for a bale.

Because of the predators we have, including mountain lions, small goats are not even an option.

I'm intrigued by everyone's goat stories and experiences. Learning a lot here! Thanks

We have $3 a bale hay here but it is called feeder hay. Can be given to goats and cows. Not horses it is not clean enough. The cheap feeder hay bales may have some mold.

If you need a lawn mower you are a whole lot better off with sheep. Goats prefer brush. Sheep are a lot easier to keep in than goats.
