I've learned from asking on here that the solid colors, red, buff, black can be the sires.

Silver factor genetics have to be in the dam even if it isn't apparent in her adult color.

You can look on this "Chicken Calculator" and play with the different color examples of male and female. When you've got offspring where the males all look one way and the females look different - you know you've come up with a sex-linked combination.
