Are adult gooses easy to tame (than ducks or pheasants) and cleaner pets than chickens?

The live poultry butcher store in my city has adult gooses for $50 each. I suffer from major clinical depression and I need one goose as a cuddly pet to help with my need for happiness.

Any advice or opinions? Thank you

Geese poop a lot ! They are far messier than ducks (which can be messy) or chickens. That being said, they can be great fun. It would be difficult to tame a single adult goose. It would have already been imprinted on other geese. A gosling would be the best route to go if you were really interested. As a child I had a human imprinted duck - great fun. As a teen I raised a human imprinted gander - even greater fun. Any possibility that as a cuddly pet a dog or cat might work for you ?

They do make diapers for them. I do think it depends on breed. I had a white Chinese that wss bossy and chased others away. She didn't with me, but everyone else better look out! If you want them to be very bonded to you, you probably will want a gosling or 2.

a single goose/gander is easier to get to bond.
if you have two, they tend to bond to each other. not saying they won't be friendly to you.
I have had many geese on and off over the years. any where from a pair up to 30 at a time. never had a mean one.
I agree, get a young one.
you probably won't find any young ones at this time of year. early spring, and sometimes around October/November.
I had geese hatch on Thanksgiving and on
Christmas.
I wouldn't recommend diapers on a goose. they poop around 3 pounds each day. and it is almost always very juicy.
If you have a lot of outdoor space for them, one or two geese are not too messy. in a coop is another story.
always water them outside. they like to take a daily bath, so a nice sturdy tub about 8 inches deep will suffice.
I use a heavy duty plastic mortar mixer from Menard's.

If I just get one duck that is about 1.5 or two months old, will it bond to me and become tame? Sorry if this question falls into the duck forum. Some information on the web says ducks need to be in a flock while some sources say a duck can be alone with a human friend.

I would not suggest a domestic duck or goose as a companion pet if you are looking for a bird-companion to assist you with depression. You might consider a domestic caged bird (parrot, cockatiel, love bird) that you can raise from hatching, hand feed and it will be so bonded to you that you may find it annoying.
