are heated blankets dangerous?

I have a little chick who is recovering from an injury and needs to stay inside. I currently have him under a lightbulb, but the light keeps me up at night. Would it be safe to put him in a heated blanket at night? Would he burn himself? Would spilt water cause it to shock him? Should I get a heat pad instead?

I'd move the bird to another room and keep him under the light. That way he can get away from it if he gets too warm.
