Fairy egg or baby arm?

Ha! I knew you would read this! A friend who owns an ice company in SoCal was recently adopted by a solo young hen. I sent layer food, grubblues, oyster shell, nesting material and a waterer to him to make sure this wandering hen felt comfortable. Last week after a month of laying normal eggs, this hen laid two fairy eggs- tiny, with no yolk. Then today she laid this: can someone help me help them?

Can he cut it open and see what it looks like inside? But he should use gloves or handle it with paper towels or something he can throw away and not touch it with his bare hands, and wash up afterward.
