Are hens combs smaller then roosters...?

I am a newbie. Raising chickens for the first time. My chickens are almost 8 weeks old and I am trying to figure out what I have. Hens or rooster. An older gentlemen told me that the rooster comb will be significantly larger then the hens, Is this true? Any help I would appreciate.

Usually, yes. If you post some pictures, someone should be able to help you.

Generally speaking this is true. Particularly with single comb breeds. Rose and pea combs it's harder to tell.

Although I'd also point out that sometimes a hen's comb can be pretty big and tricky to tell if it really is a rooster or not when it is young. The key thing is to look for a pinker, larger comb at 5 weeks.

And this is of course only with single combs. . . (they look like a saw) With pea or rose combs, it is a lot more difficult. That's where we come in to help.

from Ohio, Keep looking at those combs, I noticed my cockerels were the first to develope red combs.
