He will be six weeks old on Wednesday, for some reason I just feel like it's a little late. Every picture I see people are like oh he's seven weeks old! And the goose is fully feathered. Are Toulouse geese just slow or are his feathers not coming in at the right speed?

Thanks!!

Honestly he looks further behind in feather development than my 4 week old Toulouse, maybe from being sick. Are you sure he will be 6 weeks old? If you want i can take pics of my 4 week old for comparison. Sure is a cute lil one.

They were suppose to be 4 weeks on Friday but this Toulouse is further along in feather development so I think it maybe a few days older than my Buff. but still 4 weeks old.

I'm thinking with your lil one being sick it just got a bit behind. I asked servpolice if feather development meant anything in geese like it does in chickens, like poults feather in quicker than cockerals do.

He's a Production Toulouse if that makes any difference. His feet are also the same color as your goose so he's not very orange, either. The sickness stunted his growth?

Mine is too, but they did say mine could be a mix of Toulouse/Buff but he is looking 100% Toulouse to me, time will tell I am thinking. I think bill and feet color may come later as they mature. I don't know about stunted but maybe just set him back a bit, are you giving him vitamins? Just like with us when sick we can have a set back, so I'm sure it probably happens with animals too. Maybe his body was fighting off what ever this was and couldn't do feather growth at the same time. Does he seem to be recovered now?

Just pulled this from another thread, are you sure Pear is a boy?

They could still be same age! Because
the male's grow the wing feathers a lot faster then female's.
(Unless it is has wild geese bloodrelation which is unlikely but with a crossbreed goose is half wild then the babies wing feathers grow a lot faster and mostly grow too fast

Well, when we got them he had a big red mark on his head that you can still see the remains of, and the other two didn't. We ordered 2 geese and 1 gander, plus he was a giant compared to them, but maybe they messed up and he is a she!!! Hmmm....

Are you sure about the age? Sellers sometimes misinform. If you're absolutely positive about his age being six weeks, he does have a serious problem.

At six weeks they're supposed to look like this - my goose at five weeks, six days:

How do the other two look? Is he very different from them? If none of them are looking age-appropriate, they're probably not getting enough to eat.

Have you tried weighing him/them? At six weeks they should weigh about 8 lb. Mine weighed 8 lb. 6 oz. when she was six weeks old.
