Goose started improving each day on his own and seems back to normal just a week later.
In looking back we believe when one of the chickens broke into the goose run she was cornered by this goose and he bit her head multiple times. The chicken was a bloodied and needed isolation for a day but after wound care she returned to normal. Perhaps the goose got a concussion as he repeatedly chomped on her. Thankfully we caught this in time to spare the chicken. The female is laying eggs so the make is very protective these days. I’ve read where people keep geese and chickens together but I’ve found it’s seemingly okay one day but when it isn’t, it’s awful. We keep ours separate unless they are free ranging so the chickens have a way to escape a mean goose.
