Are mixed flocks good?

We have a large mixed flock, and if we want pure breed chicks we separate the ones we want to breed into different pens. If we aren't breeding they all free range together.

I too enjoy my mixed flock, I get the blue eggs, green eggs, beige & tan eggs, on occasion I will get ones that is speckled. Want to add a WS & Maran to the mix, just to get the dark eggs. I was going to be roo-less, but my GLW turned out to be a roo. He is a good boy & takes care of his girls, likes to come into the house & is a equal opportunity lover.
