Are Mushrooms you find in the yard toxic to ducks?

Probably. Better to be safe than sorry... make sure and remove the dirt where they sprouted as the spores could regrow.

I have often wondered this. We have been getting a lot of rain in this part of Nebraska and there have been mushrooms popping up. Our ducks have been gobbling them down and so far no problems noted. They have eaten all types of odd looking mushrooms and I let them. I cannot squish every single mushroom or I would get nothing accomplished in the day. I often think ducks are smart enough to know what to eat and what to avoid.

Okay that calms me down. Thanks! :)

I am NO expert on mushrooms, but so far all ducks are still alive and well :) I won't let our daughters eat wild mushrooms though :) Though it is tempting; they look yummy. I need to find a reputable mushroom identification book.

Our ducks free range....pekins, runners, and more. All of a sudden we had 2 runners and 1 pekin (they hang together) eat wild mushrooms.... the ducks started dropping like flies. I spent 4 hours with my rearend on a 5 gallon bucket with a syringe and fresh water...duck grumble and dark corn syrup (only because that's all I had)...these ducks were not just lethargic...they couldn't move at all. My husband dug 3 holes it was that bad!!! There was slimy froth coming from their mouths...I pushed all these things into them for three hours straight. Non stop. I poured water in their mouths...on and on...finally..4 hours passed and they started throwing up this really nasty phlegm ... two started drinking on their own...then swimming. (One pekin and one runner). I still had 1 runner that was bad. She could barely lift her head after 4 hrs. I continued with her and she finally started lifting her head and then started drinking on her own. Today all 3 of them are ok but now we are afraid to let them free range any longer. We have 26 acres and I hate leaving them penned up. But yes...the mushrooms almost killed my ducks

I am glad your ducks are okay. I have had three issues with one of my female Pekin ducks. She acted weird one day, then fine the next. I thought my son had chased her, and she slipped and hurt her leg. Then last week she started doing it again. She was standing in an odd position with her head neck forward kind of limp. Then she laid down. I started flushing her with water where she immediately looked better. The next day it happened again. Today, I just saw her with a tan colored mushroom in her mouth. I chased her down and took it away and went outside, picking all of the mushrooms. I don't know if it is the mushrooms or not, but that is all the proof that I needed for my ducks to not have anymore. My chickens never bother the mushrooms. I think wild rabbits eat them at night because someone out there takes bites out of them. I had mallards a few years back, and they never touched any mushrooms. Strange.
