I want to put a couple of plants in pots in the far corners of my duck run where it's crawl access only so they don't try to lay there. Most of the area is blocked off by their 2 duck ponds, but someone crafty might find a way to climb out and get stuck or nest there.

Are there any nontoxic shade plants you'd reccomend? Bonus if the ducks can enjoy eating it. Hostas would survive fine but they might be toxic to poultry I forget and need to look it up.

Your hostas would work, and yup, they do best in partial shade, or shade. We've got them in our yard and in the summer months, that's where we'll find our chickens, hanging out underneath them. They aren't toxic but they don't eat them anyway. Our ducks haven't had the opportunity to be exposed to them yet, but I will have no qualms about it.

Hostas aren't toxic but If they can reach them.. they will eat them. 🥴
It's fine if they eat them. Hostas are literally immortal. I accidentally weeded one in the fall without realizing it as it was dormant and I didn't see the tuber clump. Got tossed in the tarped over compost pile and was happily sprouting away in the spring, laying on top of the compost pile on its side.
