Are my birds yarded or free-range?

Euro standards are much more strict. Who is "THE" authority anyway? In any case, free range, organic chickens get 4 square meters each to be considered free range / organic. {Edit: In the EU where the standard is much more meaningful}

Back to the original question....

Yes, they are free range, even according to euro standards. You'd need 288 square feet for 8 birds and you have about 13000 square feet.

If my math is right (and it isn't always), it seems you could have about 350 chickens on that lot and still be "free range"

In the end though, are the chickens happy? If so, I'm sure you will be.
