Hiiii so I was just checking on my chicks and when I gave them food they starting eating then they would lift up their heads and raise their neck feathers, it looked like they were choking.
I don’t know how to add a video on this but I was also wondering if it is bad that they tend to try to eat the sand in their cage and a few days ago I say one swallow material from a puppy pad! I got rid of the puppy pads immediately. I don’t give them any chick grit but I was wondering if I should start too!
Thank yall so much!

Yes. Give feed and water 24/7 to start with. Give mash (with water) instead of dry pellets or crumble. Thats easier to digest.

Giving grit is important when the chicks start to eat other stuff with fibres or hard seeds.

How old are the chicks? And what bedding do you use now.

I have three that are around 6 weeks old and 1 that is about 7 weeks old. I use all purpose sand for the run bedding and I used to have puppy pads in their coop but they starting to tear it up and I think they might’ve swallowed some so I took all of it out!
