Are my chicks eating grass pieces that are too large?

My chicks are a little over 4 weeks now. I've been letting them out in my small backyard for short 1-2 hour intervals so they can have some playtime and get used to the outdoors. They eat A LOT of grass and bird seed that has sprouted. But I'm getting worried about what I hear, some say if they eat too large of a piece it can block their system. I don't clip grass for them, but some of the pieces they tear off are maybe 3-5 inches long at the biggest. Almost as tall as them! Is this something to worry about? I grew the grass out for this reason, so they can have some free greens in their diet. I havn't mowed in several months, so the grass and bird seed sproutings are pretty long. They have regular access to grit. Bad? Good? Am I taking a risk?
