Are my chicks too young to be outside on their own all day?

I staked down the cage with removable tent stakes. I put an extra hide away in there for them, and stapled them to the sides of cage so a predator couldn't remove them. I think it is pretty secure. The one weakness I worry about is something could slip its arm under the hideaways & grab at them that way. I may get a tighter weave of screening for that. Here is what it looks like.

That looks pretty good. The wire weave there looks smaller than the 2 X 4 utility fence size I originally thought it was. If so, that's a good thing.
