Are My Cockerels Secretly Active?

I have not seen any mating - I have two cockerels and two hens, among many others which are all younger. I have not seen either cockerel mate either female hen, but one of the hens looked very rumpled this morning - feathers mussed and a few looked to be missing. Are they... getting busy in private? This particular hen is not laying yet.

its possible, but usually chickens arent very discreet

there could have been a quarrel between that hen and the other or possibly one of the roosters

how old are they? Also, it doesn't matter to the rooster if they are laying yet or not

Thanks. I suppose there could have been a quarrel, but they all get along really well together, except of course for the two cockerels who are constantly challenging each other. The cockerels and one of the hens are about 23 weeks old, and the other hen is about 8 months old.
