I rescued 4 Pekins, one mallard mix and 2 Muscovy drakes in September. They have gotten along great until the past week or so. I’ve noticed out on the pond they bite each other’s neck and get on the back of the other. It looks like they are drowning them! And another will get on top of the second one! Is this what boys do for fun, pecking order, or fighting? It’s what I’d assume mating looks like. Then when I bring them in at night they will do the same thing in their pen. I’ve been watching to see if it’s always the same ducks but it changes. One day it seems like they pick a certain one, then the next day it’s another. Any help or advice to a novice would be appreciated.

Sounds like mating, at least that's how chickens do it. Are they all boys? Or do you know how many girls t boys you have? There are probably to many boys and they are competing for mating. If there aren't enough girls it will stress them out. You might need to seperate girls from boys until you can balance the numbers better

They are all boys, that’s why I’m confused. There have never been girls around.
