We have a Little Giant still air incubator. We are 2 days away from our first hatch. Chicks have been moving in their eggs during candling the last week. We've kept the temp consistently at 99.5 through the whole thing, but last night my son unplugged the incubator. When we checked it this morning, the temp was at 118 degrees!! I guess the unplug reset the circuit board. I'm out of town and can't candle right now. My wife recalibrated the incubator this morning. Did the overnight temperature increase kill our eggs?

Probably. It depends on how long it was at that temperature. The center of the eggs takes longer to heat up than the air, but that is pretty dramatic and it sounds like it was for most of the night.

I’d still keep them going to see if any hatch since you’re that close. Sometimes they can be pretty tough but I would not hold out much hope.

Sorry!
