Hey! I am very new to keeping chickens, so my question may be odd do you older members.
I have three lovely ex-rescue hens, they are eating normally (although one is VERY greedy), laying a lot, but one hen started off as the greediest, then the tamest one, and now she is relatively tame and the noisiest. She looks quite bored and doesn't seem to be interested in anything that we have put in the run to amuse them.

This is the main question: She goes to preen herself, but buries her head in her feathers and stays there for quite a while..! Is this normal? What does this mean? One of the other chickens is doing it as well. The other day, two of them huddled up together on a perch and did this for a long time. It was a little bit cold, so were they trying to get warmer?

One of the other chickens have been pecking the others neck. Help?
We got them a week and a half ago. Could you please help me?
Thanks!

Or they may not be feeling well, or are scared.
Roosting with head buried during the day is no normal.
Have you checked them over for lice and mites?

Might be cold....you must be on the other side of the world, cause it's hot as blazes here.
