Are neighborhood cats ever a problem with chickens?
Well, they're cats and chickens are birds, ergo, the answer is probably "yes" at some point.
To be safe, you should keep them on the trouble side of the ledger.

Most cats I've encoutnered are curious and even excited by chickens, but dont seem inclined to trifle with them. I mean, a flock of adult chickens at eye level is probably intimidating to a cat.

But chicks and younglings are surely at risk. Personally, I would consider any cat guilty until proven innocent.

Be on guard and keep the .22 handy.

I have four indoor cats that love to look in the brooder in my living room but really had no interest in trying to get to them. I have an indoor/outdoor cat that could care less about my free-ranging chickens and I have a strictly outdoor cat that is scared to death of them. So, I think it is rare for a cat to care. I hold my chicks while I watch TV and I usually have a cat on both sides of me and one or more on the back of the couch all sleeping.

Our cats' new favorite napping spot is on the roof of the coop, it's tall enough for a good breeze, and in a shady spot of the garden. Our old male cat keeps other cats and dogs out of the yard, so he can nap whereever he likes, the smaller cats will climb into the bunny hutch and nap with them as well.

Not every cat wants a chicken dinner, mine just want a nap.

We have four cats here, and they don't mess with the chickens...so far
I think they have been pecked on the end of the nose to many times, and one got her tail pulled so they pretty much leave them alone. But if one of the cats did hurt one of my chickens it would be SSS time
