Are packing 'peanuts' safe? *Need answer!*

Well my thoughts are' I wont let it happen to any of my animals until I do it to myself" (famous last words)

We once had a dog who kept on barking all the dang time,so I bought a dog debarker collar that had a 6volt battery in it.I put my words to the test, and locked it around my neck, then barked. THE PAIN!! it hurt like bielzebubs beard!!So I said " no I wont do this to this dog".

The corn starch ones should be fine. We had to eat one for an agriculture class once and I survived. They are basically the same as cheese doodles without the flavoring! The styrofoam ones I would NOT give to animals.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I would like to say that I have eaten corn starch packing peanuts before. My chickens enjoy them.
On one occasion, one of my friends potted a plant in soil that I had made using styrofoam balls about the size of a pea instead of perlite. The plant somehow ended up in the cage of a veiled chameleon, which ate one of the styrofoam balls. The owner was worried that it would not pass through his digestive system but the lizard is still alive a year later.
