Yeah sometimes the fires around here are pretty bad

If you have a problem with bushfires then you would need to be very selective where you lived in Australia. Most of the country is bushfire prone. Part of most pet owners bushfire evacuation plan is - how do I move the pets. Mine is - get the hose out and water all round the avairies - now water all round the house.

I don't keep much up to date with things, but watch videos of a farmer in Australia and all the info about fire risk there is terrifying

I will take them places like Home Depot or pet stores to get out of the house and socialize when it's too hot or cold to be outside too long, but a grocery store . . . ?

If my dogs are in the car when we decide we need to pick up groceries one of us will wait in the car with them while the other shops . . . if no one is with me I'll take them home.

Same! I agree, it's a great socialization tool, for sure. I remember calling around to see how many places we could bring our dog to, but there were definitely times I had to wait in the car with her (understandably).

I wouldn't put a dog in a shopping cart (why?) but people take service dogs into grocery stores because they need them.

Having said that, non-service dogs (just pets) are allowed in a lot of places here. Costco, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware, coffee shops, bookstores, grocery stores, fabric/craft stores, bars, restaurants.

Keep in mind that for most of the year here it's too hot to leave a dog in the car and too hot to walk them outdoors. People bring dogs with them into stores and walk them in air-conditioned malls.

As long as the dog is leashed and well-behaved, I don't mind.

Yeah, this definitely wasn't a service dog. Like you said, there's so many businesses where it's fine to bring your dog in to socialize. I have to draw the line at a grocery store unless someone REALLY needs it to function. In which case, employees shouldn't be petting it and then stocking produce.

Maybe I'm a doggie buzzkill, but according to the poll, I'm already weird.

And the daughter and her work team had to evacuate 2 weeks ago from the Atherton Tablelands in Queensland - before the landslides from floods got to them. It's a weird country - but we love it.

I find it more weird humans will take other animals babies and make them a pet… people just go around kidnapping animals and selling animals. That to me is weird lol like a person selling puppies… another human buys it then forces it to live with them with a bunch of rules aka training lol

If you've got an Android there's a fair chance double-clicking the power button will summon the camera, and the volume buttons will take the photo once the camera has been opened.
